Benetti has launched Lumina, the latest unit in its Class 44M series, from its shipyard in Viareggio. The 44-metre yacht was launched via slipway in what the yard describes as a traditional construction milestone, marking the transition from build phase to final outfitting ahead of delivery scheduled for summer 2026.
The launch coincides with the announcement of a €100 million investment programme for the 2026–2028 period by the Azimut|Benetti Group, aimed at expanding production capacity and strengthening industrial operations across its Tuscan facilities.
Class 44M Series
Lumina follows the first unit in the Class 44M line, Juno’s 7, delivered in March 2025, and the second hull, Fortitude1, which entered the water later the same year.
Designed by Giorgio M. Cassetta, the Class 44M platform is defined by clean exterior lines and a four-deck layout focused on volume, natural light and operational efficiency. The design approach prioritises bright interior spaces and long-range cruising capability, supported by engineering solutions aimed at enhancing comfort and privacy on board.
Exterior Design and Layout
The Class 44M features a contemporary profile with extended glazing and well-proportioned deck spaces distributed across four levels.
Key design priorities include maximising interior volume and improving the connection between indoor and outdoor areas through large window surfaces and open-plan exterior arrangements.
Interior Arrangement
Interior design by Giorgio M. Cassetta follows the same architectural language as the exterior, with an emphasis on brightness, clear spatial organisation and functional circulation. Accommodation and guest areas are arranged to support extended stays on board, with engineering systems integrated to maintain comfort and privacy during long-range cruising.
Investment Programme 2026–2028
Alongside the launch of Lumina, the Azimut|Benetti Group has confirmed a €100 million investment plan covering its Tuscan operations over the next three years. This follows €77 million invested in the region over the past three years.
The programme is focused on three main areas:
Tuscan Production Network
Tuscany remains the core operational base for Benetti’s superyacht division, with 14 production and industrial sites located across Viareggio, Livorno, Massa and Pisa. According to the Group, the region accounts for approximately 70% of its global output.
Industrial Growth
The investment programme follows a period of significant industrial expansion for the Group, with reported production value increasing from €758 million in 2020 to €1.56 billion in 2025.
With Lumina, Benetti continues to expand the Class 44M series while reinforcing its long-term production strategy across its Italian manufacturing network.
